Progress with Purpose: Inside the Construction of the Sonders Learning Center
We’ve showcased what the Sonders Learning Center will be; its thoughtful design, nature-inspired selections, safety-forward yet elegant finishes. Now, the story is shifting. The framing is up. Walls are taking shape. Spaces that once lived only on paper are becoming places you can walk through, imagine yourself in, and soon, gather within.
The Sonders Learning Center is no longer an idea. It’s a building with intention, momentum, and a clear sense of purpose. Designed as the heart of the community, the Learning Center is being shaped to support lifelong learning, social connection, and everyday comfort for people of all abilities and at every stage of life. With construction well underway and the pool scheduled to open this summer, this is a moment worth pausing to take in.

A Building Designed for Real Life
From the start, the Sonders Learning Center has been envisioned as a place that feels welcoming the moment you arrive. Recent construction progress makes that vision tangible.
Inside, gathering spaces are taking form with comfort in mind. Areas designed for conversation and connection are being framed around comfy seating arrangements that encourage lingering rather than rushing through. This is not a pass-through building. It’s a place meant to be used, revisited, and made familiar.
A central kitchen and hosting area is coming together as a natural extension of the community’s social life. Whether it’s a casual get-together, a watch party on the large screen TV, or hosting family and friends, this space is designed to flex easily between everyday use and special moments.
One of the most visually striking elements now being installed is the two-sided fireplace, set to anchor adjoining spaces with warmth and atmosphere. It’s a detail that speaks to the Learning Center’s dual role: functional and inviting, practical and elevated.
Nearby, a meeting and flex room is taking shape with movable tables and another large screen, designed to adapt effortlessly. Think game nights, hobby afternoons, small group gatherings, or community-led events that evolve over time. The emphasis here is flexibility, allowing residents to shape the space around how they actually want to use it.

Thoughtful Design for All Abilities
Accessibility at the Sonders Learning Center isn’t an afterthought or a checklist item. It’s built directly into how the spaces are planned, scaled, and connected.
Room layouts prioritize clear circulation paths, generous spacing, and intuitive movement throughout the building. Furniture placement, doorways, and transitions between spaces are being designed to accommodate a wide range of mobility needs without calling attention to themselves. Lighting design has been calibrated to maximize visibility for all occupants. The result is an environment that feels natural and dignified for everyone who uses it.
This approach extends to how spaces relate to one another. Gathering areas flow logically into activity and meeting rooms, creating a sense of continuity rather than separation. Flooring material between the pool and the indoor spaces are specially chosen to limit (and eliminate) slipping – even when wet.
The Learning Center is being built to support independence, ease of use, and confidence, reinforcing its role as a place people return to again and again.

Wellness Taking Shape: The Pool
Outside, progress on the lap pool and hot tub marks another major milestone. These amenities reinforce the community’s focus on wellness, movement, and relaxation.
The lap pool is designed for both routine exercise and leisurely swims, supporting low-impact activity that fits naturally into daily life. Adjacent to it, the hot tub will offer space for recovery, conversation, and quiet moments of pause. Together, they form a balanced outdoor experience that complements the indoor programming and gathering spaces.
With the Learning Center and pool opening this summer, these amenities are quickly transitioning from future promise to near-term reality.

From Construction Site to Community Anchor
As walls go up, finishes are installed, and outdoor amenities take shape, the Learning Center is transitioning from concept to cornerstone. It’s a place designed to host, to welcome, to support learning and connection, and to do so in a way that feels intuitive and enduring.
With a summer opening on the horizon, the progress happening now is more than construction. It’s the physical expression of Sonders’ values coming to life, one beam, one room, and one gathering place at a time.
